When installing tiled stoves, being aware of the relevant legal regulations is not easy. On the regulations on fire protection and chimney height and on the permit for the use of tiled stoves in a given municipality, it is best to seek the advice of a local chimney sweep master. In any case, before starting work, you should ask him the following questions:
• Whether the chimney is suitable for a tiled stove?
• Is the use of tiled stoves allowed in a given commune??
• That the connection of an additional tiled stove will not overload the chimney?
The chimney sweeper must pick up the connection of the tiled stove to the chimney. The general fire regulations are as follows:
• Area wide 40 cm around the hearth must be covered with non-flammable lining • On the side of the tiled stove, in distance 25 cm from heated surfaces, there must be no built-in combustible materials, for example. door frame, windows etc..
• Above the tiled stove should be kept 50 cm distance from all flammable materials there.
A maximum of three combustion chambers and a maximum of three can be connected to one single-draft chimney 20 kW of heating power each. When using atmospheric gas burners, the power of the chamber may increase to 30 kW.
Atmospheric gas burners and tiled stoves cannot be connected to a common chimney. Each combustion chamber requires a separate connection to the chimney.
There must not be more than one connecting element at the same height to the chimney.
When several devices are connected to the chimney, the difference in height between the lowest and highest connection must not be greater than 65 Cm.
An open fireplace always needs its own chimney (FROM 18160).
