Impregnations

Impregnation consists in even and deep soaking of wood with the preparation to increase its durability. Preparations are available, that act prophylactically and protect wood and such, which have a healing effect – fight fungi and insects in wood already attacked.

Types of impregnations:

• Solne – mixtures of mushroom salts- and insecticidal, which further reduce the flammability of wood.

• Oil – easily oversaturate dry wood. They are used to protect against water by reducing the absorbability of wood, contain protective agents against fungi and insects and coloring pigments.

• Solvent based – deeply penetrate into the wood (into 10 mm), well dried before impregnation procedure.

• Resin (impregnation and decorative) – can be waterborne (for indoor use) or solvent-based (used outdoors). They contain synthetic resins, which penetrate deep into the wood and reduce its absorbability, protective agents against fungi and insects and pigments allowing for color change.
