Function characteristics in sound emission systems.
Functions in sound emission systems apply to sound processing and reproduction systems. The following are some of the basic concepts and abbreviations used for some functions, along with a brief description of them..
■ Hi-Fi (High Fidelity) — means high-end equipment, characterized by faithful reproduction of sound.
■ Auto Earguard Sysem (automatic hearing protection) — it is a system, which works by eliminating high sound levels without affecting the quality of the music. Switching to Earguard lowers the volume to moderate, while maintaining all emission values.
■ BBE is a sound processing system, increasing its transparency and resolution. This system works on the principle of dividing the recorded music into high bands, medium and low frequencies. These frequencies reach our ears at different times, according to the conditions of reception of live music. In the case of ordinary recordings, all frequencies reach our ears simultaneously, which causes a decrease in dynamics, while thanks to the BBE system, music comes alive again.
■ DSL (Dynamie Super Linear Bass) amplifies the lower frequency range and reduces the difficulty of playing low frequencies through small speakers, producing a natural bass sound, even at low volume.
■ Super T-BASS - this system allows you to receive bass sounds without interference in small speakers, producing a powerful and rich sound of these sounds.
■ Subwoofer - means using a special woofer, providing deep, chilling bass.
■ Dolby B NR is a noise reduction system.
■ DSP (Digital Signal Processor) operates in several preset modes, for example. Disco, Hall, Movie, Church, Arena and user-programmable modes. Enables realistic reproduction of the sound environment by creating a signal delay system, which reflects the acoustic characteristics of various types of places. This system allows you to recreate the atmosphere of the environment, therefore, it is used not only to listen to music.
■ 3S System (3-S Super Space Surround) — ensure such effects, like DSP. Works in Disco modes, Live and Hall.
■ Electronic Graphic Equalizer for high audio fidelity and acoustic realism. Works in several correction modes:
• ROCK mode enhances treble and deep bass, giving a rich and powerful sound;
• POP mode emphasizes vocal voices and middle frequency range;
• JAZZ mode is recommended for accentuating the lower range and enhancing the sound of jazz music;
• CLASIC mode is designed to enrich classical music with strong bass and delicate sopranos.
Sometimes special modes are also used for optimal cassette recording, which will then be played back by stereo headphones (HS) or car stereo (TSAR).
■ Dolby Pro Logic (Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound) — this system uses five speakers: left, right, middle and two rear. Allows you to play audio with cinematic sound quality. Votes, background noises and special effects come from the right directions, creating the impression of presence at the place of transmission. The system has five preset modes:
• Pro Logic Normal, which eliminates the lower range from the center channel and compensates for it in the front speakers;
• Pro Logic Wideband, in which the center speaker plays sounds from the lower range;
• Pro Logic Phantom works without a center speaker, while the signals from this speaker are directed to the front speakers;
• 3 Channel Logic Normal works without rear speakers, separates the lower sound range of the middle channel and aligns it by playing in the front speakers;
• 3 Channel Wideband works without rear speakers, with rear channel effects divided into front speakers.
■ Front Surround - enhances sound playback without the use of additional speakers. Speaker enclosures are designed this way, that the sound propagates in three directions, and there is a slight delay between direct sound and sounds reflected from the walls. Sound effects are created from sounds coming to the listener from behind, mid-band sounds, coming from the sides, and vocal sound coming from the center of the speaker. Spatial sound that competes with that of a four-speaker configuration can be achieved in combination with a DSP processor.
■ 4 Speaker Front Supround — is a version of the Front Surround system, used in mobile devices. Two additional mid-band speakers mounted on the top side of the speaker body reproduce phase-shift audio. The result is an intensely multidirectional sound.
■ 6 Speaker Surround uses six mid-band speakers, arranged in a circle.
■ Front 180° Surround - this system uses two mid-band speakers, sideways facing at a 45° angle, with a sound wave-emitting hole on the upper side of the housing. This chip produces a one-way sound, unlike normal two-speaker sets, in which the area of optimal listening is limited to only a small area. The expansion of the listening area in this system makes, that the stereo effect is received everywhere.
